Candles began in the early 60’s in a garage
in Berkeley California. By adapting the Venetian Millefiore
Art glass process to create Wax Veneer which was stretched
over a piece of raw wax , Stone was able to create a
multi flower or Stained glass effect and the Glowing
Candle was born.
The glowing candle was
a huge success in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.
In the 90’s our craftsmen took this process to
a new level of artistic creativity with intricate detail,
perspective and of course the hidden color technology;
creating classics like the Metamorphosis, Jeweltone
and Magic Butterfly candles.
There were many imitators
but no one was able to duplicate the Hidden color process
nor the fine detail and artistic accomplishment. Many
of these classic designs are still available on our
Web Site.
In 2002 Stone Candles
production was moved to South Africa. Using our same
technology we have created a new range of contemporary
candles focusing on texture, fragrance and "The
Candle Inside The Candle" process.
